Hey there, my name is Laney Hunter and I am 22 years old. I was born and raised in a small town in central Illinois. Growing up I was heavily involved in the agriculture industry including 4-H and FFA. Being on the back of a horse was and still is my escape from the world. I started barrel racing when I was 13 and continued all the way through college. I ran the NBHA and BBR circuits and some of the IPRA Circuit.
Having an agriculture background I knew I wanted to continue my education in the industry. I went on to study agricultural production and management at Joliet Junior College in Illinois. To finish my degree I took a job as a ranch hand on a ranch in Emigrant, Montana.
The western way of life has been an ongoing way for me since I can remember. My barrel horse came up lame a year ago and I knew I still wanted to support the industry somehow. I decided I was going to run for the Miss Livingston Roundup title and ended up being crowned in July of 2023. What better way to support an industry you are passionate about than getting to travel the state of Montana and represent a community of Cowboys and Cowgirls?
Western Futures has helped in sponsoring me to continue on the rodeo road. I have been very blessed by the people I have met in this industry and western futures is now a part of that. I am so excited to be a part of this team!
Gratefully,
Miss Livingston Roundup
